InfoMap is developed using Delphi for Windows. The hardware and configurations required to run InfoMap is similar to that required to run Windows effectively.
Hardware and Software Requirements
InfoMap requires the following hardware:-
An IBM-compatible PC running a 386 processor or higher.
. Windows 3.1+ or Windows 95
. 4 Mb of RAM is needed. 8 Mb of RAM or more is recommended for optimal performance.
. Hard disk drive with at least 5 Mb free space.
. VGA (or compatible) monitor.
. Screen resolution of 800*600 recommended.
. Mouse pointing device
Installing InfoMap
InfoMap is distributed in a single zip file: imap####.zip
Before installing InfoMap, you must install and configure the Borland Database Engine, bdedemo available from "ftp://ftp.borland.com/pub/techinfo/techdocs/database/pdoxwin/gen/bdedemo.zip". If you are using a Borland Windows database product or Novell Quattro then you will already have the Borland Database engine.
install InfoMap, create a directory (eg., c:\infomap) and unzip the files into this directory. The executable program for InfoMap is "imap.exe". Run this program within Windows and InfoMap will configure itself.
After unzipping the zip file you should get the following files.

InfoMap, make sure you have the DOS environment variable TEMP set. eg., "TEMP=c:\temp" and make sure that the directory (eg., c:\temp) exists on your system.
viewers. When you run InfoMap the first time, it will create its own system tables i.e. defobj, users, model and viewers. It will also create the "imap.ini" file in your Windows Directory.
If you get a Windows general protection fault and you are using more than 256 colours, try changing your display settings in Windows to 256 colours.
Network Support
You can use InfoMap on a network but for multi-user access you must configure the Borland Database Engine. We have not tested InfoMap for network compatibility and we do not recommend its use at the moment.
Registration
InfoMap is a shareware program. The registration fee is US$99.00. Students and members of institutions of higher learning enjoy a discount of 50%.
